Cátia Godinho

She has finished her masters in Environmental Systems and she is already integrated in the job market. Cátia Godinho strongly believes that her experience in the USA has attracted many employers.

“My internship in the USA has been a strong weapon of attraction as I am always selected for job interviews. I also believe that I have grown professionally in a globalised context”.

Cátia says that it was easy to adapt because she lives in a western country and also because she is used to watch American culture in the TV and therefore the surprise factor wasn’t a reality. Moreover, the innovation and the progress, strong pillars of the American society, build new ways of thinking to those who go there.

“I became a more open-minded person and I have learnt new work methodologies, knowledge of different forms of organisation, how important it is to promote productivity, to have good work relations with my colleagues and also a network of international contacts that might be of great value in the future.

It is a good way to improve how things work in our country if I can pass on what I have learnt to my professors and colleagues”.

She also praises the way how IAESTE is organised:

“IAESTE internships aren’t too bureaucratic which is very good because many times this represents a great obstacle when students want to participate in these exchange programs”
